Bible reading day 18 (Jan 18): Genesis 19; Matthew 18.
Genesis 19. Just reading this chapter provides all the commentary needed upon it. How low we can sink in wickedness and depravity! Not just Sodom, but the family of Lot, as well. God's design for marriage and human sexuality has not changed from the beginning. God is the same God today, and he will judge the world according to his holy standards (Romans 1:18-32).
Matthew 18. What a contrast to this is our Lord and Savior Jesus who teaches us about humility, purity, and forgiveness:
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:1-4 ESV)
