sometimes it's good to be a man

There are some advantages to being a male of the species. Quoted by Robert Lewis in The Great Adventure (Men's Fraternity):

  • Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat.
  • You know stuff about tanks.
  • Your last name stays put.
  • The garage is all yours.
  • You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
  • You can be showered and ready in 10 minutes.
  • Wedding plans take care of themselves.
  • If someone forgets to invite you to something, he or she can still be your friend.
  • Your underwear is $10 for a three pack.
  • You don't have to shave below your neck.
  • You don't care if someone notices your new haircut.
  • You can watch a game in silence with your buddy for hours without even thinking, "He must be mad at me."
  • One mood, all the time.
  • You never have to drive to another gas station because this one's just too icky.
  • Gray hair and wrinkles add character.
  • If an other guy shows up at the party in the same outfit, you might become lifelong buddies.

clement quotes hebrews

Clement of Rome wrote to the church in Corinth around AD 90.  This is perhaps the same Clement, companion of Paul, mentioned in Philippians 4:3.  Many hold him to be the first bishop / pope in Rome, aka St. Clement I.   Clement quotes from the letter to the Hebrews.  Origin suggested that Clement was in fact the writer (as transcriber or amanuensis) of Hebrews.  Perhaps this letter began as a "word of exhortation" given by Paul at the synagogue (Heb 13:22; cf Acts 13:15) which then became a circular letter for the churches.  Other possible authors of Hebrews include Luke, Barnabas, or Apollos.  The theology is Pauline, but the transcriber is obviously second-generation (Heb. 2:3-4).
